Natural Ways to Lighten Your Hair for Summer

There’s no better time to lighten your hair than in the summer so if you’re getting ready for the coming season and you’re planning on going lighter with your hair, I suggest you start doing it now, especially if you have naturally dark tresses as those take more time to lighten up. Now, there are plenty of ways you can go about this but if your hair is already tortured and damaged as it is, you might want to consider avoiding the chemicals and the salon treatments and take the natural route. Here are some natural ways to lighten your hair for summer.

RHUBARB RINSE – who would’ve thought that you can use rhubarb for anything else other than dessert? Create a rhubarb rinse by simmering a few stalks of rhubarb in water for an hour. Run through a sieve and bottle up and use it to rinse your hair after shampoo and conditioner. This is perfect for ladies with. You’ll see results after a couple of rinses.

CHAMOMILE TEA – we all know that blonde hair is one of the toughest to maintain regardless of whether you’re a natural blonde or a blonde by choice. To lighten blonde hair without messing it up and making it look brassy, rinse with chamomile tea in the shower. This will not only lighten your hair but will also brighten it up which is perfect if your blondes have gotten dull over time.

BAKING SODA – is there anything baking soda can’t fix? Ha! Kidding aside, if you haven’t already stocked up your home with baking soda, it’s time that you do. This sucker doesn’t just do well in keeping your house clean, it’s quite useful in the beauty department as well. Sprinkle some baking soda on your hair and work it in while in the shower. Do this a few times over the next few days to naturally bleach your mane.

SALT SPRAY – who doesn’t love mermaid hair? If you do but you don’t really feel like soaking up some sun or hitting the beach, try making your own sea spray by mixing up salt and water in a spray bottle. Spray it on your hair and leave it for 10 to 20 minutes to get lighter hair with sexy beachy textures.

OLIVE OIL – on the other hand, if you’re heading out anyway then you might as well make the most out of it and give your tresses a nice, light coating of olive oil before exposing them to the sun. Doing this will help bring out the natural highlights in your hair – a perfect alternative to getting them using hair dye.
